Carefully Examine the Scriptures like the Beroean
by FusionTheism inthese quotes might come in handy for some of you in certain situations:.
bearing witness (acts) book, pages 137-138:.
16 though the beroeans were hearing something new, they were not suspicious or harshly critical; neither were they gullible.

How Some Climb Up So Quickly?!!
by Sofia Lose inour current co has not been in the org all that long, less than 10 years, and already quite a respected overseer.
i know of a few married couples in the spanish congs that are doing everything right, you know, with the theocratic schooling, the pioneering, etc., and... nothing!.
how do some seem to reach certain posts so damn quick, while others cannot make it?!

How Much Do Circuit Overseers Make Under the Table, and is it Taxable?
by Tazemanian-devil ini was thinking about green handshakes, and i knew my wife and i personally would try to slide at least $100 each c.o visit to the c.o.
if we were low on cash, we'd never hand him less than $20.
how many of such handshakes does he receive in a weeks time?

Good thread, heard about this stuff before. I would donate an average amount regularly every month for hall upkeep / rent whatever and then a smaller portion for the world wide work and the societies kingdom hall fund. That and an average donation at each assembly. That's it and I was / am comfortable with that set-up as it would amply cover my portion of books / mag / Bibles. I'm thrifty and don't need much to be happy so use very little in the way of printed materials. I don't do any additional donations to CO's / DO's or whatever but did contribute to hall renovations / builds in my area. I prefer helping out a brother or family in need if there is one than giving money to someone in position. -

So what is his training anyhow, is he an MD or other ? He mentioned working in sort of a MASH type unit is this correct ? The 3rd ( III ) thing is over the top, that is anything but humble IMHO

Lett's pinky ring is back
by Daniel1555 inif you thought that stephen lett came to realize finally, that wearing a pinky ring doesn't seem modest, you are wrong.. in the introduction video to the video "what is true love?
" of the convention releases day 3, he is as lunatic as ever and wearing his pinky ring again.. thank you, governing body.
let "lett" talk in front of the worldwide convention audience and in your broadcasts, and you will wake up more jw's than any other means might do..

Maybe he thinks he's an engineer, in Canada they wear iron rings unsure about US customs on this. And yes I know a man that wears a little gold chain on his tie like some of the GB do. It struck me as odd when I first saw it 15 years ago.
A red flag went up in my mind right away telling me this guy was posturing. When you have a gut feeling that something is off listen to it, I ended up being right.

Any good answers at this Sunday's WT?
by Lemonp inobviously this weeks' wt has been part 3 of big changes in the doctrine.
at the end i answered up saying along the lines of: "as we can see from the illustration box, when it comes to the reward being given to the slaves, divine appointment was not given in 1919. this will happen in future when the anointed get taken before armageddon".
i couldn't bring myself to say "raptured at armageddon" as i think people might have taken a closer look at me...but it felt good to call out publicly the bull sh#t date of 1919 .

It seems to me that the GB used the illustration to promote themselves and to promote the preaching work of JWs, without clear scriptural backing for either.
X2, not just seems, it IS !
Red flags all over the place for me on this WT, will wait till the next one to get back to a meeting and go from there. This particular issue of the WT reeks self promotion as so well put it Torn In Two

Bro Loesch's talk.
by New day inrecently i heard through video link to our kh a talk by bro loesch where he attacked university study (again) but this time he prefaced his remarks by saying, and i quote, "the faithful slave does not forbid you to go to university.
" so this was a bad start as his following remarks made it clear that this was just a way of seeming reasonable while basically saying that we shouldn't do it.
he went on to use an illustration i think he has used before about a man with ocd who decided to kill himself.

I found the gun shot suicide reference pretty disgusting and gruesome. Being a suicidal depression survivor myself it was way, way out of line.
I can now honestly say that I have very little if any respect for the GB and it's company men. As stated here before they are an embarrassment. Sure they get one such as myself that had little if any Bible knowledge up to speed real quick but their methods and man made doctrines leave much to be desired.

Do You Remember The Days When The Society Would Say Everything Pictured Something About Them?😇
by minimus inwhen you look at the society's literature, it is pretty comical to see how important they believed they were.
it seems to be not as bad under the new regime but they certainly believe they are a special people.

Being relatively new the 1919 application was a red flag for me
607 and 1914 I'm now on the fence at least and researching it.
Oh mentioned it before, one Gilead student experience where he heard the instructor mention
Elijah and Elisha being prophetic to Russell and Rutherford hahahaha !!
